MARLAN WARREN BIO

Marlan Warren is a playwright and theater director/producer, and filmmaker living in Los Angeles. Prior to writing, directing and producing, for 15 years, she performed in plays in Boston, Canada, Chicago, Florida, San Diego, and Los Angeles. She began directing at Pary Productions in the Theater Building in Chicago and Victory Gardens. In San Diego, she directed Golden Trash Stamps at the Marquis Public Theatre’s Gallery where it broke box office records. Marlan is a crew member (Publicity) and conference panelist with the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival, and on the faculty of the Greater Los Angeles Writers Society. She was a Theater major at Florida State University, and studied Directing at Victory Gardens in Chicago. Her B.F.A. is in Screenwriting from USC. Her novel Roadmaps for the Sexually Challenged: All’s Not Fair in Love or War is available on Amazon

 PLAYS:

 HALLELUJAH WHIPLASH!: A women’s self-defense musical. Showcased as a staged reading at the Marquis Public Theatre in San Diego. (Lyrics and co-wrote the book with Lawrence Czoka who composed the music.)

 BITS OF PARADISE: A Reader’s Theater play that adapts letters between women held behind the barbed wire of Japanese American Internment Camps and the Japanese American soldiers fighting in WWII. Produced at The Marsh Theater, San Francisco. Bits of Paradise places its footprint on the timeline of a much-needed theatrical examination of the Asian American journey –Asian Week Review. (Writer/Director/Producer/Actor)

BITS OF PARADISE: KOCHIYAMA’S CRUSADERS: An expanded version of Bits of Paradise, produced at the Met Theater in association with Rogue Machine in Hollywood. (Writer/Director/Producer/Actor)

 CHASING SANGHA: Two women meet and go on a Vision Quest in the desert. Produced at Athena Cats 10-Minute Play Festival, Santa Monica (Writer).

LAWRENCE CZOKA

In addition to a long history of working in the theater, Lawrence Czoka has extensive experience as a recording engineer and mastering engineer at Good Vibrations and Studio West in the San Diego area. Now semi-retired, he continues to provide mastering services at Studio West on a part-time basis.
